Weigh in Thursdays

I lost 7 pounds in this last challenge and over all 19 pounds since October 2011.  She also did my measurements and I have lost 16 inches since October.  I am happy with the results and hopefully I can lose more as I attempt to train for the Grand Rapids Metro Health Marathon.

Camping

Heading out to Holland State Park for a weekend of camping on the beach.  Looks like great beach weather.  I will need to do an 8 mile run on Sunday morning, but they have some nice bike paths in Holland from what I have read. 





Last week I did my 11 mile run in St Joe, that should do me for the half next week.  Got to run by Harbor Shores where they are having the Senior PGA tournament this weekend.

Hungry

Not feeling the whole diet thing the last few days.  We went camping this past weekend and I way too much junk food and did not drink enough water.  We did have a great time camping though.  That's what I wanted for Mothers Day.  I did get some exercise bike rinding and climbing the dunes



I did my long run on Sunday after we got home and I struggled through it.  It was one of those runs where I wanted to quit the whole time, but I didn't :)  I ran 9 miles, with a little bit of walking mixed in.  I drove to the town next to us, which is much more scenic.  That definitely helped pass the time.  Doing a long run after camping is not recomended, trust me.

Sunday Long Run(late)

Ran 8 miles Sunday morning in 1:30. Still breaking in the new shoes, almost felt like I was getting a blister. Tried peanut butter GU for the first time. It was great. I think it might be my new favorite. I do not like the fruit flavored ones at all.

Under Armour Outlet

I got 2 new pairs of running shorts at the UA outlet for $10 each. Starting to really like the ones with the built in undies in the warm weather. Must not be a big demand for size XL running shorts, there were tons in my size in the clearance.

We celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at Bentwood Tavern. It was awesome, can't wait to go back again. I had the Bangkok chicken and my husband had salmon. We also had an appetizer of homemade french onion dip.

Thursday Weigh In

Last night I lost .6 pounds, still happy with any sort of a loss :)

On Monday I attended a Good Form Running class put on by New Balance.  I learned more about mid foot strike and cadence.  Trying to get to 180 steps a minute is not easy.  I also got a new pair of Brooks Adrenaline's.  My old pair were very worn out and I could feel the difference when putting the new ones on.  I really don't like the color of the new ones, there kind of plain for me, but I didn't want to switch shoes.  They had pink ones they could have ordered but I really needed them bad if I want to break them in before the Sunburst Half Marathon. I have not signed up yet because I need to check on getting a baby sitter since my husband works on Saturday mornings.  The combination of new shoes and trying out a new form really made my legs soar.  I can see how you need to ease into this stuff. 

Today is my 10th wedding anniversary.  Its amazing how much has happened it those 10 years.  Sad to say no special plans, but I think we might go out to dinner on Saturday. 


I try to make my kids take pictures of me so thats why sometimes they are not high quality :)

Father Teds 10K

I woke up and had my peanut butter and banana toast with one cup of coffee. This seems to be my typical race day breakfast.  It was about 40 degrees this morning and about 55 at race time. We got there early and it was a small race, so not much of a wait to get our bibs. 

I really like Notre Dame's campus, so many old buildings.  I need to watch the movie Rudy again and see if I recognize any of the places we ran by.  I ran at ND last month for the Holy Half.  It made me want to do another race on campus.  Maybe one day if I get good at carrying my phone I can take some pictures on some courses.  They had a bagpipe player at the start and then he moved during the race to a spot on the lake and it really made the sound travel.  Bagpipes instantly make me get teary eyed.  Plenty of water stops, but this time I brought my hand held bottle with lemon lime Nuun.  Its much better than gulping down water at the water stations.  My Friend Mandy rode with me and ran the 10K also.  I posted on FB if anyone wanted to come with me and she was the lucky winner(the only one who said yes).  We had a great time, it was nice to have someone come with me.







I finished at 1:01(The course may have been a little short, but don't tell anyone)  I averaged a 10:34 pace, which I am very happy with.  Stopped at Eddy Street Commons after the race and got a big burrito bowl at Chipolte, YUM!

Thursday weigh-in

Today was my weigh-in for my weight loss challenge.  I lost 2 pounds this week, but I was gone at the dental convention last week, so this meets my goal on 1 pound per week. 

I attend meetings at a local Herbalife shake club.  It  costs $30 for 12 weeks of classes and $27 of the money goes back into the winnings pot.  The top 3 biggest losers get the prize money.  It's really a great incentive if you are highly motivated by money.  I was close at the last challenge, but not close enough.  I won a challenge about 4 years ago and lost about 18 pounds, but then I was looking so good, I got pregnant with baby #3.  My next mini goal is 7 pounds.  I really want to get to 170.

I did a run outside today and it was windy!  That's the good thing about signing up for races, it makes you get out there no matter what. 10K on Sunday!

Breakfast

This mornings shake is blueberry oatmeal. I used 2 scoops vanilla formula 1, 1 scoop vanilla PDM, 1/4 cup oats, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, crushed ice and water.

I made the mistake of filling my Magic Bullet blender too full, so I had to take the lid off and stir it up to get everything to blend. It was delicious!

Nice easy run.  I am registered for a 10K on Sunday.  Father Teds 10K at Notre Dame.  I love that the race starts at 10:00 AM, plenty of time to get there without waking up at 5AM.

Dental convention

I went to the Michigan Annual Dental Conference on Thursday and Friday.  I attended 2 great continuing education seminars and 2 not so great.  Nothing like a boring lecture!  My favorite was Dr Odiatu who talked about the body and mouth connection.  He is also a personal trainer and fitness guru.  Very inspiring!!!!  I would highly recommend his lectures.  He basically talked about a healthy lifestyle(sleep, diet, exercise and low stress)  Unmanaged stress is huge inflammation trigger. 

I also got myself registered as a bone marrow donor.  It was very easy to do, maybe I can help someone one day :)  I also got to go shopping with no kids!  I bought these Sanuk's at DSW.

Well, so much for the goal.  I had two shakes on Monday and then one today for breakfast.  We had a staff meeting at lunch today and she brought in Pizza Hut.  I have no will power so I did have one piece of pizza and 2 bread sticks.  The pizza was at least thin crust with veggies and I ate a pear along with it.  Tonight I had to stop at Meijer on my way home so I picked up a nice ready made salad.  I hope I can get a workout in tonight.

Weekly goal

The goal will be to drink my protein shakes for 3 days this week. I will need to bring my magic bullet to work. I must plan ahead!!! The chocolate mint Herbalife shake mix is the best. Tastes just like mint chip ice cream
